Requirements for the Senior Homestead Exemption | - 65 years of age or older during the assessment year
- Own or have a legal or equitable interest in the property occupied as your principal residence the assessment year and
- Be liable for the payment of the property taxes.
| Requirements for the Senior Assessment Freeze Exemption 2010 | - 65 years of age or older during 2010.
- Your total household income in 2009 was $55,000 or less.
- On January 1, 2009 and January 1, 2010, you
- Used the property as your principal place of residence,
- Owned the property, or had a legal or equitable interest in the property as evidenced by a written instrument, or had a leasehold interest in the property used as a single-family residence, and
- Were liable for the payment of property taxes.
| | In order for you to fill out your assessment freeze forms you will need to have your IRS 1040 with you. If you do not fill out a tax return you will need to bring in any income that you have received during 2009 and your Social Security 1099 form. For those people not collecting Social Security you will need to bring in any pension or other income that you received during 2009. |
